  • Half a kilo of beans
  • 1 large onion
  • 2-2.5 tablespoons of tomato paste
  • 3 tablespoons of oil
  • 2-3 red chili peppers (cayenne pepper)
  • Salt, mint, paprika, black pepper

Bulgarian Style Baked Beans Recipe

Let’s soak the dried beans with hot water overnight as we do classically. Let’s drain the water again and add hot water in the same way and boil it for half an hour on medium heat and pour the water. Let’s take our beans in a suitable pot and add enough water to cover them by 3 fingers. Let the beans boil for half an hour on medium heat, stirring occasionally. At the end of the time, let’s cut the onion into cubes and add it to our pot and continue to cook on low heat until the beans are soft. Let’s fry the oil and tomato paste in a separate pan and add it to our pot along with salt, spices and peppers. When our beans have the consistency of cream, we can take them from the stove and serve them… Bon appetit.
